We see them humiliate the Morty and make fun of him. And for the most of the episode, that is true. Everyone thinks that the Morty is just there as a joke and that he has no chance of winning. There are about five Ricks running for president and one Morty. In the opening shot, we see that it is in terrible disarray and that they are holding an election for president. This episode mostly focuses on The Citadel of Ricks(The government of Ricks and Mortys). In this episode, we get 4-5 stories depending on if you count the beginning bit as a story. As he does it we think we will see some kind of messed up eye but instead, it is revealed that it was this Morty that was controlling Evil Rick, while an ominous song plays. Then we see a scene of the evil Morty walking back with the rest of the Morty’s while he takes off his eye-patch. All the Morty’s that were being trapped by the evil Rick and Morty are set free, and it is shown that the Evil Rick was being controlled from a separate location. Basically, they get trapped, you see some Morty’s being oppressed and they prove their innocence. They enter and are both captured by a different set of Rick and Morty, with the Morty wearing an Eye-patch(this is important later). They enter the dome-like structure where the supposed killer was hiding. Long story short Rick uses his vast intellect to locate the person that framed him, thinking it was another Rick since they are the smartest people in any reality. We see them run away from other Ricks, jumping through some weird realities until they finally escape and go on a hunt to find out who framed him.
So Rick C-137 is convicted of this crime and sentenced to death but he decides not to die and steals his portal gun back and gets his Morty and him out of there. But when they pull up his portal gun(the way they get everywhere) it says that he had been to the locations where the Rick’s were when they died. Obviously, he denies this and says he didn’t kill them.
Apparently, our Rick, Rick C-137(they have designations), is the prime suspect in the killing of other Ricks. He moves forward from the portal he was in and more Rick’s step out. In this episode, we see that Rick and Morty are going about their normal day when another Rick from a different reality(this is no surprise it is normal in the show to see different versions of characters already in it) just pops in. But that’s enough of the summary of the show, now to move on to why you are reading this (hopefully), how these two episodes are connected and why this is very important for the future of the show. He mostly is used to demonstrate how smart Rick is, but he does show growth in his intelligence. Morty, on the other hand, seems to be much dumber than Rick and is more nieve all around. Rick is a crazy old scientist that seems to value dumb jokes more than his intellect and he is the Grandfather of Morty. Its two main characters are in the name of the series, Rick and Morty. But it’s when the episodes are looked at for more than just a couple of seconds, that the intelligence really comes through. It is a show that if only looked upon at surface level, would seem vulgar, dumb, and just made for stupid people to laugh at fart jokes. Rick and Morty is a Scfi-adventure cartoon that airs on Cartoon Networks Adult Swim.
